“After coaching for 28 plus years, I developed a great many life long relationships that defined my career long after the wins and losses had faded away.  This is, in a nutshell, what might be the most important aspect of a team sport like basketball.  The connection to a team and the life lessons learned through the daily pursuit together of excellence on the court and off.  I believe that our life experiences are never put to waste. We learn from each and every one and then those same lessons are gifts to us in the future when we need them.  I have looked forward with great anticipation to the day when a new door would open where these relationships and life lessons would be invaluable tools to share with others.  Solid Rock Basketball is this door to me!  The idea of a facility and program dedicated to basketball excellence in its many forms, while fostering a culture of passionate coaches and players, in a community that believes this is something our youth will benefit from, is truly exciting!  Having a solid consistent basketball curriculum based on the fundamentals, fits so well with the fundamentals that we want to challenge our athletes in their daily walk in life. Solid Rock Basketball will be a place that teaches and trains young people to be the very best that they can be both on the basketball court and off.”

“As a player I grew up in an organization in North Texas known as Hoop Hunter Basketball under the instruction of Deon Hunter. I am so humbled by what Deon gave to me as a player every time I was in his gym, and it is because of this giving spirit that I now have a burning desire in my heart to give back what he gave to me. This seed that he planted in me at an early age helped spark my desire to start an organization similar to what he built in North Texas. In addition to the mentoring I received from Deon, I was blessed with the opportunity to be both a player and a coach under a small college coaching legend in Oklahoma, Dan Hays. The wealth of knowledge I experienced as a player and coach with Dan Hays, combined with the passion and drive I received from Deon Hunter are the reasons I am in the position I am today as a leader of my own organization working with youth basketball players from all over the state of Oklahoma.

In an effort to bring Deon’s spirit and passion to OKC, I have dedicated my life to my organization known as Game Changer Hoops. We operate year round, and spend time with dozens of different kids on a daily basis helping to develop and mentor them both as basketball players and as young men and women who will become a valuable part of our society.

In my heart I have known for a long time that there was a way to expand our reach and offer our program to more kids throughout the OKC community. Our biggest setback is gym time, so when I was approached with an opportunity to pair my organization up with Solid Rock Basketball in order to build a facility with 4 full size courts the answer had to be absolutely yes. It is time for the OKC area and youth basketball to get on track in a way that offers more kids a positive, encouraging, yet challenging and passion driven environment to grow both their basketball game and to help develop the next generation of our society.”

“I have literally had a dream of being involved in a basketball facility like Solid Rock for years. When the opportunity arrived, and the pieces started falling in to place to make this dream a reality, the excitement and anticipation was and still is, simply overwhelming. The way that Solid Rock basketball has come together is nothing short of amazing. It has reconnected old friends with the same desire and passion for ministry and basketball, and brought about new friendships that have developed at the right place and time. My personal desire to be a part of Solid Rock Basketball comes from an intense love for the game of basketball when played in the purest form.  Even more than the love for basketball, is my desire to truly serve and mentor young children and young adults to the best of my ability. It is so important to me to help teach the true fundamentals and the team strategies of basketball in the most positive and challenging environment possible. There are so many challenges facing our youth today, and the chance to have a safe, consistent, uplifting, challenging, positive environment that Solid Rock will provide is something I cannot wait to see in action.”
